practices for 2011

Hey everyone.  Yeah I know its been a while since we posted and its been a while since we've had consistent practices.  Hopefully, in the new year we can get to something that's close to a routine before we get more serious with games and tournaments.
My idea is this:  to have morning practices (8:00 to 8:45 a.m.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays...keep the lunchtime practices on the other days, and wherever we can, have an after school practice (not all the time, just if the boys aren't having one and we didn't have one that day).  We should leave our after school times open for games as well.  So that's the thinking for the new year.

Also, I need to know from you all if you're interested in jerseys. If you don't already own a basketball jersey, they will cost approximately $40 to $50 dollars (depending on style and lettering etc.).  If you're interested, let me know your size, what number(s) you'd like on your jersey (pick at least two choice) and what name you'd like on your back.  The numbers can only have digits from 0 to 5.

Practice Times

Hey everyone!  It's back to practice we go.  We've got a lot of work to do so we'll need everyone at as many practices as you can manage.  We are going for four lunchtime practices a week starting tomorrow (November 15) from 1:00 sharp until 1:35.  We will run the practices as close to the end of lunch as possible.  Please explain to your teachers that you are playing on the team and will make every effort to change as quickly as you can:  you'd only be a minute or two late anyway, so it won't matter too much.
Practices will run Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays (full practices) and Fridays (scrimmages) until further notice.  Wednesday is band and too many of you are involved so it won't even be an optional practice:  it will be a day off. 
I would also like for the managers to come to practices as well as there are items that they will need to work on and lunchtime will give them that opportunity.

Girls Intermediate Basketball Tryouts

Yes, it’s that time already! 

This year everyone has to try out regardless of whether or not you held a position last year.

We will be conducting tryouts at lunch (1:00 to 1:40) on the days shown below.  You must be dressed and ready to play at 1 p.m..  If you cannot come on your grade’s day please speak to Mr. Kirshenbaum BEFORE your practice day and NOT after.  Anyone who misses their practice day who didn’t speak to Mr. Kirshenbaum prior to that date might not be allowed to try out for the team (except for emergencies and illnesses of course)

Note all dates below are tentative and might be changed depending upon gym usage or other unforeseen events.  Remember these tryouts are for all students . . . no exceptions.

Grade Sixes will tryout on: 

       Tuesday October 12, 2010

Grade Sevens will tryout on:

       Wednesday October 13, 2010

Grade Eights will tryout on:

       Thursday October 14, 2010

The list of players who made the first cut will be posted outside room 220 by no later than 3:45 p.m. on Thursday October 14, 2010

Callbacks (everyone who makes the first cut) will tryout on:

       Monday October 18, 2010 and possibly Tuesday October 19, 2010

Cuts will be made and the 2010-2011 team will be posted outside room 220 by no later than 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday October 20, 2010.

Please do not make any attempt to ask whether or not you made the team prior to October 20, 2010.
